ClearLift Treatment Guidelines

Pre Treatment Guidelines

  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment. Sun exposure decreases the effectiveness of the laser treatment and can increase the chance of post-treatment complications.
  • Must be off of any antibiotic medication for a minimum of 3 days.
  • Must be off of Accutane for a minimum of 6 months.
  • No Botox or filler injections for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • 7 days prior, stop using all topical Retinoids or Retinols. No peels, exfoliants, topical antibiotics, exfoliating masks, hydroquinone, benzoyl peroxide, acne products, alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), or beta hydroxy acids (BHA).

Day of Treatment Instructions

  • Avoid lotion, creams, makeup in the area to be treated.
  • Arrive with clean, washed skin without makeup or topicals.
  • Update your provider on any changes in skin condition, medical history, supplements, and over-the-counter medications.
  • You cannot be treated if you have active cold sores or sunburn in the treatment area.

Post Treatment Guidelines

  • Gentle cleansing and use of non-irritating cosmetics are permitted after treatment. It is suggested that retinoids be discontinued 1 week prior to and following each treatment.
  • Those prone to acne outbreaks should avoid heavy makeup or moisturizers for 24 hours post-treatment.
  • The treatment area may get itchy, it is very important that you DO NOT scratch or apply heavy lotions to soothe. You may apply over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream if needed.
  • You may take either acetaminophen or ibuprofen alternating as needed.
  • You may apply cool compresses as necessary for 24 hours after the laser treatment to help reduce discomfort or inflammation.
  • SPF 30 (BROAD SPECTRUM UVA/UVB PROTECTION) OR HIGHER MUST BE WORN THROUGHOUT TREATMENT SERIES.
  • It is also highly encouraged to pair with a sunblock like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
  • Avoid the following for 14 days post-treatment:
    • Sun exposure and tanning beds.
    • Chemical peels, harsh exfoliants, facials, aggressive scrubbing, microdermabrasion, shaving, waxing, other laser treatments on the treated area.
